So is this current snapshot what we expect to follow during the conference?
South Dakota 9-5
North Dakota State 8-5
South Dakota State 9-6
Oral Roberts 7-5
Purdue Fort Wayne 7-8
North Dakota 6-7
Western Illinois 3-7
Denver 2-8December 24, 2019 at 11:01 pm #1557
ORU, OMAHA, and UND played much tougher non-conference schedules so one might expect them to do better than their record suggest. According to Sagarin ORU had the 15th highest SOS in DI.January 3, 2020 at 10:55 am #1558
This post is an attempt to get some discussion and revive this site before it completely dies out.
After one week of conference what are the observations?
Biggest negative surprise so far:
USD had one of the best pre-conferences records but has the most disappointing first week going 0-2 against teams expected to be in the bottom half of the conferences. Injuries have played a role but not the total explanation.
Biggest positive surprise so far:
WIU picks up a win to start the season over USD.
What do you see an interesting observations from the fist few games.January 4, 2020 at 9:00 am #1559
Are there any Denver people that can provide feedback about the program? They came into the Summit with a bunch of hype as the leaders of the pack, but the team has only created a descent to the bottom. How long do they keep the current staff in place and bring in someone like Turgeon was found for the women?January 4, 2020 at 11:45 am #1560

Yeah not sure what’s going with Denver these days> I thought maybe they would turn a corner this year. Excited to see the Jacks starting to find their groove thoughJanuary 5, 2020 at 8:00 pm #1561

The pre conference rankings before the season started was published but after playing preconference schedule and opening of the conference schedule what are peoples thoughts of where do you think the teams are now. I thought that USD and NDSU were the favorites but right now USD has not looked the part. I also think that SDSU and UND are playing better than I thought they would with the changes coaching staffs and loss of players. I Think they both could move up to where they are competing for higher playoff spot in the tournament. The bottom line I guess is that there is not that much spread in difference in many of schools it will come down who’s healthy and makes most adjustments to be winner.January 6, 2020 at 8:54 pm #1562
ORU is another team that may not live up to the preseason choice. It is early. UND did get a better coach than many with a replacement based on the early results. Denver, WIU, and ORU have not had that early perk in their choices. Sather came in a proven D2 head coach. It may be a couple of rookie D1 head coaches in the run for Coach of the Year. It is odd that we have not had more activity from the Omaha and Denver groups since there is not a fan board visible at those locations.January 9, 2020 at 10:44 am #1563

Big game tonight available on ESPN3: NDSU @ ORU.January 9, 2020 at 7:41 pm #1564
I wouldn’t be surprised to see the final standings to be similar to the current. NDSU and Omaha battling it to be for the title with SDSU a step behind with PFW and UND another step behind. that leaves four teams battling to not be left out of the tournament. The real question mark is USD. They have had a lot injuries. Is that the basic problem or is something else going on in Vermillion. With there only win a close game against 0-4 Denver at home, they need to turn it around quickly and should be able to do so. We will see.January 12, 2020 at 9:41 pm #1565

Well, we are 4 or 5 games in, and already there are no undefeated teams left. Four teams are tied for 4th place at 2-2. Really the only team getting some separation is Denver at 0-5.
Totally wide open.
Should make for an interesting season.January 14, 2020 at 2:24 pm #1566
This week/week end should provide some clarity as to who are pretenders and who is for real with each of the Dakota schools playing two other Dakota schools. Should either of the _DSU schools win both of their games they would set themselves in very good shape with them and Omaha pulling away from the rest. On the other hand if all four come out with a split on the week end everything will be as clear as mud.January 15, 2020 at 9:15 pm #1567
First half of the Dakota weekend and Jacks and Bison move forward to 5-1 and 3-1 respectively at the top of the standings along with 3-1 Omaha.. Both U_D teams drop to 2-3 ahead of only Denver in the standings. Two big instate battles between the _DSU and U_D over the weekend. Then NDSU-SDSU next weekend to end the first half of the season for SDSU as NDSU approaches the same point.
